In this story, you read how experience and fresh energy reinforce each other.

About working at Fortadio

“From day one I felt welcome. You are not ‘the new one’ here, you immediately belong.” With these words, lift mechanic Jorn describes how he experienced his start at Fortadio. He recently made the switch from electrical engineering to the elevator world, after a conversation with David, a familiar face from his village and football. David and Jorn now work together on the modernization of the elevators in Stadsschouwburg De Harmonie in Leeuwarden, commissioned by TK Elevator. Their story shows how experience and fresh energy reinforce each other within a team where collegiality and equality are central.

A familiar face

As one of the first lift mechanics, David already worked at Fortadio. His bond with founder Theo had existed for years. “When Theo started Fortadio, it immediately felt right,” says David. “We already knew each other so well that it was very natural to work together. You notice that we have the same way of thinking and that makes the collaboration strong.” For David, that culture is indispensable. “At large companies, you are often just a number. Here you get trust and responsibility. You are close to your colleagues and that gives energy.”

A fresh start

For Jorn, his switch to Fortadio meant a new beginning. Hydraulics was new to him, but thanks to his background in electrical engineering, he could immediately be of value. “The team is close-knit and friendly and everyone learns from each other. That makes it challenging and fun.” The combination of David’s experience and Jorn’s fresh perspective shows how Fortadio works. “Together we can handle any project,” says David. Jorn adds: “You learn this profession in practice, from each other. That makes us stronger.”
